Polenta Play (part two)

Two Way Polenta Play (Part two)

This was our second play idea using some old cornmeal we dug out from the depths of the cupboard and it’s super pretty!

  • Dyed cornmeal:

  • Approx 1/4 cup Cornmeal

  • Few drops of food dye

  • Small sealable bag

Rub the bag thoroughly until the colour spreads. It dries super fast but I left this a couple of days before using it and so it didn’t transfer at all.

I added Leo’s pine cones and stick - we collected these months ago and still use them for play all the time. This would also be great paired with scoopers and other sensory play accessories or a book on colours or Pride.

L couldn’t wait to dive in and get playing. He began clapping the pine cones together (clapping is a favourite at the moment) and soon tipped the contents of the sensory tray out, preferring to swish it around the sheet instead. We also made patterns using the stick and hitting it on the tray to watch the grains move.

Of course, he couldn’t resist a climb up the garden steps and toddle around the garden but later returned to the sensory tray again for more play.
